Hurricane Wilma hit Florida
As hurricane Wilma churns its way northeastward, Floridians must now to assess the damage the storm left behind, mourn the six who died, and start the repair process.
Arriving as a Category 3 hurricane, Wilma made a seven-hour sprint across lower Florida, starting in the southwest and moving to the more heavily populated areas around Miami and Fort Lauderdale on the Atlantic coast.
Wilma had weakened to a Category 2 storm while over land but regained its Category 3 status in the afternoon as it swirled out over the Atlantic Ocean.
